Light and Shadow, Horizontality and Verticality
I often go to rural areas in Japan. There are lots of Japanese traditional architectures. They are built by wood, paper, and clay mud. Their styles were simple and structural.

This house is in the small alley at Kagurazaka, Tokyo. There are some reed screens called Sudare at the front entrance. Green leaves have irregular shapes and reed screens have the horizontal and vertical lines that are shaped in contrast.
This old house has traditional lamps. This photo has brilliant green leaves and beautiful soft orange light.
Soft light comes through doors with a lattice frame. The shadow of the lattice is reflected in the tatami mat.
Vivid red azaleas bloomed in the garden. I took photos of it in the corridor.
